The FIA Formula 3 European Championship attracts more and more attention
The variegated grid of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship with its top-class talents from Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Germany, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK and the USA makes for a memorable 2013 season.
In the first 12 races of the season, 21 drivers secured valuable points in the battle for the European Championship title and the coveted Formula 1 test for the Scuderia Ferrari, with Raffaele Marciello (Prema Powerteam), who resides in Maranello, being more successful than anybody else. The 19-year-old Italian travels with a comfortable lead to the Austria’s Red Bull Ring, the venue of the fifth meeting of the season. A total of four Italian hopefuls, among them Michela Cerruti (Romeo Ferraris), one of two girl racers on the grid, and three Italian teams (Prema Powerteam, Eurointernational and Romeo Ferraris) are causing a stir not only on the racetrack but also at home in Italy. With immediate effect, Italy’s leading sports channel, Rai Sport, will provide more than 24 million households with the highlights of the action-packed Formula 3 weekends. The programme ’Solo Velocita – Automobilismo’ (Rai Sport 2) will sum up the most important action on Thursdays in a half-hour format.
Just in time for the only meeting on Austrian soil, ServusTV also is going to cover the races of the planet’s most competitive young-gun series re-live. In addition, the highlights of every race weekend will be broadcasted by the free-TV-station for motor-racing enthusiasts in Austria, Switzerland and Germany. And the German TV partner n-tv covers the races one (Saturday, 11:05hrs CEST) and three (Sunday, 10:55hrs CEST) as usual live and in full length.
